The purpose of the Civil Division is to provide legal assistance to the St. Landry Parish Police Jury, various boards, commissions and other agencies within St. Landry Parish as well as some municipal legal advising.
The assistant district attorney in charge of civil matters for the 27th Judicial District is I. Jackson Burson, Jr. He is responsible for providing oral and/or written opinions and legal advice to these governing authorities.
